This is the unit going to the Yanks in "the fall". In fact it is the only engine at launch in the Avant. Perhaps we'll see an expansion in the engine range around the same time?

strangely not on the configurator on the website but at my local dealer they did say they are able to take orders on it now.

do you think it is worth the £2k extra ?

2.0t s line basic price is £27.125, a premium of £2375 over base spec 1.8t s line, i know your getting quite a bit more performance and 40 bhp but the 1.8t has some great revues, i don't know if i could justify spending the extra.plus the insurance, I'm a private buyer so its all coming out of my pocket

PS the configurator takes lat least 2-3 weeks to catch up with spec updates

i am in the same boat. I am also a private buyer. I dont care about the extra insurance but the purchase price is likely to be 2k extra for the SE after dealer discount. I am looking at not only the extra BHP but the way in which it delivers the power - seams to have more lower down grunt , a bit like a diesel. As i am a likely to pull my caravan and race car with it i think this might be useful .saying that i have a passat 1.8t at the moment (old shape) and it pulls the caravan like a train !!

From what I have read the 2.0 TFSI pulls more like a 3.2 than the 1.8 TFSI. I guess if you want quattro or tow regularly it will be an advantage but then if you tow regularly maybe it would be worth considering diesel... Reviews of the 2.0T with FWD are available from the Ibiza thing on US websites as they are interested in the 2.0T given it is the only avant they will be getting... I can dig out a link if anyone is looking for one.

two-paracetamol ....yes please the link would be very useful.
we dont want a diesel - hate them with a passion. rattle like a bag of spanners being driven up a farm track !!! no need for it either as we only do 12k per year. we had the old 1.8t in an 02 plate A6 and really liked it also have the same engine in a passat which tows pretty well. We have 3.2FSI quattro A6 now but have nto towed with it. i am sure the 1.8 will me adequate but perhaps the 2.0 will be slightly lower reving at speed as the 1.8 gets a little noisy (not really noisy but noisy for an audi !!) over 70mph

Here is a decent starter. This is an avant review. Not sure if that's what you're after but I don't remember seeing one for a saloon. Some useful comparison for you here.
