    There are various options of brake sizes fitted to the A4, a 1 size for all policy isnt the case im afraid! If you look at the inside cover of your service book for the sticker that has all the 3 digit codes, one of those codes will relate to the brake option fitted to the car. You could ask a dealer what the VIN details they hold say were fitted but as I wouldnt trust them as far as Fatima Whitbread could throw them i'd just look at your service book sticker!!!

    That will only show what was on the car and not any changes made by previous owner is car was purchased used.

    The coding on my service book represents "standard brakes" but no mention of size.

    1LT = Disc brakes, front
    1KP = Disc brakes, rear

    I did have the front wheels off at the shop and measure roughly 320mm thus 312mm but cant for the life of me remember what was stamped on the disc for thickness....25mm or 28mm.

    Thanks

    As far as I can see according to my spreadsheet, Audi dont do a 28mm thick disk on any model. it seems to be either 25mm, 30mm for the heavier cars like the A8 and 34mm for the sports models like the RS6

    The fronts are listed as FN3 16" versions, ie 312mm as you have rightly measured. These were the same ones as fitted to my 3.0 qs. Looks like you've got perfectly normal factory fitted brakes there then.
