Auto Gearbox limp mode

My brothers 2001 Sharan with 51,000 miles and automatic gearbox is stuck in limp mode being held in 3rd gear all the time. The engine warning light is continuously on. Vagcom fault code is "0297 gearbox speed sensor G38 no signal intermitant".

I have clreared the fault code to rectify the problem but it returned 10 minutes later.

Hi By clearing the fault code you have not rectified the fault.you probably need a new speed sensor or check the wiring

Thanks Kenney LOL. I was aware of that, but can you tell me where the speed sensor is, or is it part od the gearbox control module, and where is the module.
