    Hi folks,

can someone offer some advice here? I've searched the forum for this problem but can't see anything on it.
    I have a 01 Passat 2.0 SE.
The passenger door has always had a little lip outwards up near the window, almost as if someone may have been trying to break into it.
With the result of a noisy car especially when on the motorway.
Now the driver's door has the same issue only worse.
When you close it, it lips out from the rest of the body of the car.
It's really noticeable from the outside.
But what's even more annoying is that it's really loud and is "whistling" from air any time you go fast.
Bloody nightmare... there's no obvious marks on the inner door to show that someone tried to break in, so my thinking is, it's a door seal or someting??
is anyone aware of the problem on the Passats?
Any possible solutions are greatly appreciated.
This is beginning to drive me nuts!

move the striker catch on the central pillar inwards a bit so the doors shut tighter.

If it is just the top of the door then simply lower the glass, grab the frame and bend it in a bit !

    hi folks,

apologies only getting back now. was away.
I've taken advise and uploaded a pic!
tried messing around with the catcher but no joy.
even if you give the door a good bang when inside, I'm halfway down the motorway and I can't hear myself from the whistling of the wind.
only option for me right now id to let window down and try and force it in a little.
    are there any other options??
in the image below the door is closed fully, that's how much it's 'lipping' out.

No, the door light doesn't come on, on the dash.
I can close the door fully, it's only when i'm on the road I can hear it sounds like it's open.
Also if it's wet out I can hear the road really loudly.

There is obviously something not right at all there.

Bending the top of the door is therefore NOT the right thing to do.

I'd look again at the striker plate and then investigate the door lock itself. Sorry for stating the obvious and being no help whatsoever.

    yeah no worries...
i'll be honest. my knowledge on these things is limited.
I have tried different settings on the striker catch and compared them to the other doors. they all seem to be in the correct settings.
the weird thing is that the passenger door has been like this for sometime now and i had just presumed that someone was possibly trying to break into the car, but it's a bit coincidental that the drivers door has also gone the same way??!
