what does fsi mean?

ive tried to search for a answer but with no luck, can anyone tell me what this means on a 2.0 fsi, also any owners out there, whats the av mpg and i know its lame but is it a none turbo ? and if anyone can explain how i search for answers to my many questions(sorry newbie) nowt worse that being a virgin owner,

none turbo unless tfsi but audi dont run fsi anymore as it runs without the stratisfied bit but the trade mark remains

cheers mate , what the heck is stratisfied ? is it somekind of direct injection ?

yes think of it like a diesel,i wont go into it to much as it will bore the socks of you,all you need to no is use optimax and no other to get the best out of the engine.

cheers ive just done a google and im deep in knowledge now, ........not good reading at this time of night so ill save it for the morning, will try optimax as the 26 ish mpg around town im getting doesnt seem right .

on the very top line of any page on the forum you will see a number of subjects in boxes. the search feature is second from the right.
left click on the box, and type your search subject into the box that appears.
now this is where i go wrong!
fsi is something like falstrated system injection( someone will be along to give you the correct name soon).
what it means is that when the engine is cold, the fuel is injected more toward the spark plug to ease cold starting and cold running.
as the engine heats up the fuel is injected more toward the centre of the piston to gain more power.that's the basic of basic descriptions.
couldn't tell you if it's turbo charged or not,but guessing it isn't.
again, someone will give you a more definite answer soon

I used to think the fuel consumption on my Golf fsi was pretty good on a 1.6 engine. Bear in mind with fsi the emphasis is on economy rather than power, though obviously turbocharged versions will give a bit of extra poke.

chees chaps, im only getting 25 ish around the doors which i thought was abit low , anyhow good site , looking forward to some spendage on a few tweeks here and there
