Hope someone can help I have an 04 Bora TDI 130, just recently I have been aware of a clunk noise which sounds like its coming from the drivers door when pulling away or braking, it seems to be getting worse could this be the door hinge? Also could some one tell me how to improve the handling on my Bora there is a lot of front end body roll when approaching round abouts.

Have you found out what is is yet? I seem to be hearing the same thing on my '99 V5. Seems to be from the driver's side door or underneath the sill area but only under hard braking or cornering. Thought it might be the seat fixing points to begin with but no movement in them at all. Let us know if you find out what's causing it.

Ive found the best way to improve handling on anything is uprated antiroll bars. lowering also helps but it takes away a lot of ride comfort.

I've this both on my old MK4 Golf and on my current Passat.

I simply applied some white spray grease to the door hinges.

Hopefully your problem will be as easy to solve.

Note; I keep the door shuts and hinges spotlessly clean and it was the fact that they (hinges that is) were bone dry / clean that caused this in my case.

I second that.... Door hinges (@ the car body side) need a good greasing and it goes away....
It used to irritate the hell out of me before my VW mechanic sorted it in seconds

Just to let you know I have fixed the knocking all I done was lubricate the door hinge with some light oil and bingo, thanks for the replies much appreciated. In respect to the handling issues I have noticed that my Bora seems high at the back end with at least an inch more clearance from the rear wheel to the wheel arch, could this have something to do with my hadling problem?
