I am having a nightmare start with my recently purchased 01 Passat TDi!

I have had a problem with sticking brake pedal (see previous post) and now I have a flashing glow plug light and ENGINE WORKSHOP! warning. I read up on here and then checked my brake lights but they worked fine, I even took bulbs out and cleaned them but the warning still comes on.

The warning first came after I had to force the stuck brake pedal back up into its normal position. After I forced it up it started making a clicking noise everytime I press the pedal down.

Does anybody have any ideas what it could be, I am at my wits end already!

There are two switches inside the brake on off switch, a normally open and normally closed - hence the 4 pins. Maybe the other of the two switches (that sends signal to ECU etc...) is busted?!

I forgot to mention that the car seems to be running fine, apart from my sticking brake problem. Is it possible I have broken the switch when forcing my brake pedal back up?

Yes, very much so! The switch is above the pedal so is pressed when the pedal is up, and the pedal moves away from the switch when pressed with your foot. The switch is also on a sliding threaded ratchet, so maybe can be adjusted by turning, I seem to recall doing this but forget how.
