My VW Polo 1.6GL (V Reg) desperately needs a service. I thought I would put some new plugs in as it is a bit hesitant on the motorway. I expect you will all tell me to buy the Haynes manual, but how do I change the plugs?

    This is a 1.6GL Auto 8 valve

Take off three plastic bolt covers on engine cover. Undo three nuts which had washers attached. Lift off cover. Undo screws on air filter (numbered) or undo all of them. Detach hose to air filter on drivers side. Unscrew air intake pipe to air filter and move air intake to side. Lift off complete air filter body. Pull off plug wires holding metal plug shrouds. Change plugs (large nut type). Assemble in reverse order.

As it turns out the plugs were OK!
Seems that it was the plug leads and distrubutor cap?!? Perhaps the cap and leads come as one. Strange really because the leads were replaced (by the same garage) in Feb 06 (and new plugs 5/12/06) I do about 40000 miles a year.
Big shock was being told it needed two front and one rear tyre. This turned out to be good news. About a year ago Kwik Fit put two front tyres on and conned me into having the tracking checked. Not the actual work was a con, but the price paid them for the tyre discount, free fitting, tracking and the boss's holiday!
Inspite of all this the car kept pulling to the right inspite of all my efforts. As soon as the tyres were changed it drives in a straight line! What sort of tyres do KF get?
