Wondered if anyone could shed any light on a problem that I have recently experienced with my car. During mid-December my car shut down, luckily only yards from my house.

Had it taken in by an independent garage as my car had just recently come out of warranty and I wasn't going to re-mortgage my house to get the local Audi dealership to have a look at it.

Transpired that the Engine Management system had flooded resulting in one of the relays being coroded and thus the reason for the engine shutting down. Garage appeared to be quite mistified by this problem as the sealant on the Engine Management Control Box appeared to be bone dry. Their view, given the corosion of the Relay was that the water in there must have built up over the last 12 months or so. It would appear however that Audi had not come across this pending issue during the previous 2 services under warranty that I had them do.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem ? Want to gather up any info I can before approaching Audi not only to get the control boards replaced but also to get them to cover the costs that I incurred from the garage as this problem would appear to have happened whilst the car was still under warranty.

    Many thanks

    Craig

Is the ECU etc located under the bulkhead cover (where the battery is?) Not checked out mine fully yet. Does the bulk head have drain holes?

I used to a Have an MG ZT which it was common for it to have blocked drain holes, if left unchecked water filled up in the bulkhead and gave the ECU a bath or the water came into the car through the heater intake. This drain hole check is actually listed on the service schedule so shouldn't be a problem. Is this the same on the Audi. Can you get a service schedule, if its on there, then I reckon you could go to the dealer and ask them to repair the fault.

Think I'll check mine this weekend.
