    Hiya,
I own a 2000 V5 passat which current problem is a lot of oil in the coolant.- busted oil cooler - Ihope. this is my 4th passat over the years and as long as its nothing too odd with the engine I`llfix it myself. has any one else had rear axle trouble? mine did and after eating £150 of tyres I changed the whole unit.(found a kinked web on the axle )
The rest have been fine except for my first 1.8 which blew a head gasket- sorted for about £80.
Hope to keep on top of this one....
    C.

I hope for your sake it is a leaky oil cooler, Col, 'cos if it isn't it'll be a ruptured o-ring in the head gasket that seals the oil feed to the head.
Head gasket + Golf VR5 = not for the faint of heart!

    Cheers,
Ive removed the cooler, but since I have`nt bought a new one yet, I`ll set up a pressure test at work with it t`nite. The head gasket job doesn`t look like a quick one.
    Coli.
