Thanks, germanwhip81, I ended up doing the same, and received a number of "injuries" in the end. No way those were coming out without breaking, which was what I was hoping for, since a new set costs over 130 Euro here....I didn't put my sub in the stock location, just matted the rear deck, seat back area, trunk and rear seat floor, as I am building a custom box, with the port aiming into that stock sub hole. This is my first Audi without folding seats, not really liking the bass in the cabin without a ...."hole".....lol. But, it'll be two JL 12's and two KW Excelons...these are chosen since they are free,...have had them for a number of years now. Been watching some youtube channels, and looking at the builds here, all very nice (some actually pretty danged awesome), but I've never been a fan of stock upgrades...

Yeah I removed my factory sub too to open up “the hole”, I have a woefully basic ‘sub-in-box-with-amp thing from Halfords in the boot at the moment, it’s all time and money but I wanna go for something with a a fair bit more punch to keep up with the hertz components running off an audison sr-2 amp.

Hoping to finally get round to making that fibreglass sub enclosure this spring

I plan on going MD. Going to try a 4th order bandpass, with the recommended cubic inch air dimensions, just to see how it turns out. Really not too concerned about space in the trunk, errr...boot. I only use it for groceries and such, and a well-built BP enclosure should leave plenty of space....also looking for an Avant(as a second car/daily driver) to bypass the need altogether. Then I can use the entire trunk!
