Never liked my aircon.....now its ******

Got a 2001 A4 tdi se 130 and never liked the split aircon system from day one. My old 110 tdi had a far better system and it went to 16 deg.
This new one stops at 18 then goes to low ( which was handy for making ice lollies ) today however it topps 20 deg so I stick it on low and ( like the wife ) it just blows hot air at me. I allready know its going to be expensive cause its Audi.....Christ I paid 80 quid for a key fob.....but is it worth trying to get this fixed or just sell the car on a cold day ?

I would take it to Halfords or if you prefer an A/C specialist and let them re-gas and take it from there. Pretty sure it is quite cheap at Halfords

I had a similar experience on my Passat. Whatever temperature I set on the climate control all I got was hot air coming out of the vents. I took the car into the dealership and the dealer informed me that the impeller on the water pump was broken. The pump was apparently spinning but the impeller was standing still. As soon as the dealer changed the water pump I had cold air again. I hope it is what MalcQV thinks as my fix was quite expensive.

Same prob last year with my A6, had it re gased and serviced and nothing, was about to change the £350 condenser pump and they foudn a simple wire had come off its push on connector?? Might be worth looking at as it sits quite low in the engine bay and could get hit by stones etc. Good luck.
