i have a 96 saloon and have a problem with the sunroof going up halfway without the switch being touched,it has happened after i shut the sunroof while shutting the door,it has happened while the car is unattended,i came back to see the sunroof up,the switch was in the shut position, anyone any ideas why this is happening? im hoping it doesnt happen before a big downfall of rain as i may end up having a wet interior

My sunroof does this too....sometimes it will go weeks without doing it, then suddenly it will do it non stop for a full day, but it has the decency to close itself as quick as it has opened! It was annoying but now I just laugh about it, its way down the list of problems I have with the car
My sunroof only does that while im driving, never when the keys are out.

Just sold my MINI, and now own a 1996 A4 Avant 1.9TDI, also proud owner of a 1971 mini

I have solved this problem in the past on my car, by replacing the switch.
