Hi guys - new to the forum so be gentle!!

I have ordered a pre-reg 2.7tdi Le Mans which should be with me some time next week!

This is my first Audi, and after only test driving the A6 2.0Tdi, I fell in love with the build quality and driving experience of the car. I have heard good things about the 2.7 engine and am looking forward to getting my new car!

I was just after some advice - it is the basic MMI model and would like the ipod installation.

Does anyone know anything about the AMI or would the Denison be a better setup? I was going to replace my old nano, so will hold on until i get this sorted!!

Any other general audi ownership advice would be great#!!

    best wishes

Was the 2.0 tester a Le Mans ? Prepare yourself for a much firmer ride and quite a lot more road noise from the tyres if it wasn't.

Absolutely no idea about these Ipod thingy’s so I’ll leave that to the better educated users of the forum.

Would just like to commend you on your decision to opt for the 2.7 engine. I’ve just hit 50k miles in my 05 plate Avant without a single issue whatsoever. Just go easy on the right foot if you want decent mpg with it!

    Enjoy

The 2.0 wasnt a le mans (only in 2.7 and 3.0 tdi i think) and your not the first person to mention that! I have had a merc e class with sports suspension and also the 5 series M-sport with the noisy run flats, so hopefully i can live with that!! besides, i am getting a good deal through my own company, on only a 2 year deal. I suppose if its bad it will certainly feel like longer but its ordered now so what the hey!!

Flying scot - its qouted as 40 mpg ish, what are you getting? i know they vary from quoted to as much as 10% and will vary more if your always 'booting' it. I will certainly be gentle with mine, with diesel at 122p a litre!

I obviously “boot-it” a bit too often then.

I’ve averaged 32.7mpg from new (50k miles) going by the DIS. When the car was new I travelled Glasgow to Inverness (170 miles) and got 51mpg on the way up and 28mpg on the way back. Seemed to get back a lot quicker than it took to get there for strange some reason.

I have a 2.7 Le Mans auto with MMI High, DVD Nav, Bluetooth and AMI. The AMI is worth every penny and is in a different league to the Dension I had in my Passat.

I have less than 2000 miles on my car and round town I get low 30's and on the motorway low to mid 40's but its a bit up and down at the moment, hoping for a little better when the engine has loosened up.

On the tyre noise, yes they can be a bit loud on some surfaces but I think part of the problem is that the car is VERY quite otherwise and it also depends what you are used to.

The engine is VERY smooth and so quiet that I'm a bit disapointed that I don't get much V6 growl unlike the 2.5tdi A4 Cabrio that my wife has just swapped for a BMW 325d convertible.

If you are getting a manual you will have to be VERY careful not to over rev the motor while its new.

Power delivery is very progressive without much of a turbo rush like yiou get on many TDIs. It maybe not the quickest car I have ever driven but its no slouch either.

Forgot to mention that you can get the AMI fitted by your Audi dealer as there is an official kit available and in use in VERY like using the iPod's own interface. I have a 5th gen 60GB connected, makes the CD changes redundent.

I also had front parking sensors on may car, its a big beast to park!

i looked at the dension, then opted for the harman keddon unit.

probably because i already fitted a phone dock and cradle and was going bluetooth so the pod would be useable.

has been said before, but these after market kits plug into the cd-changer interface, so the changer is rendered useless, but with over 2000 songs on my i-pod 6thgen, and loads of playlists, not having a 6-disc changer really doesn't matter.

isn't that the whole point of having an i-pod????

If you don't have the option of the AMI then the HK is the next best think. However, with the AMI you don't have to attach anything extra to your dash and the CD changer still works.

By the way, the sound out of the standard audio system in the A6 is VERY VERY good indeed. Several people have also told me that the Bosse system system sounds hardle any different.

I do also have the 2.7 tdi Le Mans (Avant), and I think it's great , and I am sure you will shrek, just letting you know what to expect. Mine's multitronic and MPG after 7K miles I'm getting 36-44 average, with a couple of long trips ending at 46mpg. Overall, according to trip, 38mpg, however it's very easy with Sport on, heavy foot and lots of paddling to get 30mpg or less - hooray!.

As masonj said for manual I was also told to ensure that first 1000 miles to keep revs under 2k or engine can use a lot of oil. Is this rubbish ? Don't know, but I followed advice and now at 7k I have used zilch, so I'm happy. Since 2k revs gives you 80mph in top it's hardly "running in please pass" territory anyway.

My only complaint is that I got brilliant black and it's extremely prone to surface marking from bird sh*t, in fact I think the bird sh*t is harder than the paint. Been back to dealer to complain and apparently "that's to be expected with that colour". Is it ? It wasn't expected by me that's for sure.
