I guess I am just another victim. I have read the thread about soldering the joints, but getting to the card seems like a lost battle already. I have attached the pictures showing my strategy and progress.

Any ideas how to charge further without smashing the lock? please.
I am ready to send the original resolution pictures or take some more pictures, just ask. I am ready to go to any depths of DIYing, someone please mentor.
BTW the problem is rear passenger door wont open.

You can get an entire new lock with a year's warranty for around £25 so DIYing really isn't worth the agg. I am in the same position with my 2004 A3. There are 3 microswitches in the lock mechanism. One you can see on the bottom with the red and blue wires which signals door open or closed and there are 2 more inside the lock itself which signal central locking to lock or unlock (driver's door). I have spent a few hours fiddling about with my driver's door lock and the only result is that it's now worse than when I started and I have to buy a new lock anyway.

I posted in another thread about finding the plastic lever that the deadlock relase should move. Flick that and you should be able to pull inside or outside handle to open door and replace it. I'll try and link to that thread later if you can't find it.

I created this video a while back to explain another possible solution to this - it involves flicking the little plastic lever as mentioned above: How to open a VW rear door that is locked and won't open at all - YouTube
