rear door wont open

wifes gttdi golf 02 the near side rear doors central locking has packed up, unfortunatley the child lock is also on any ideas on how to get the thing open again? have ran vag-com and the following fault is present any help will be much appreciated.

To be absolutely honest, and not a lot of help, this is a completer nightmare when this happens. I have had to remove the inner door card and metal panel to try and get some lube into the lock unit in the hope it will free off. On one or two I have had to give up. I had one like this on a Passat (the same door lock but different winder motor) where the motor was blocking the signal to the lock on the CAN BUS line. Does the button pop up? I make sure my door locks are very well lubricated and on all the cars we service.

the button comes up only when you try and open from the inside but with the childlock on there is no joy it will not stay up, does not move with remote or via switch in drivers door. iis it possible to remove the door card and panel with the door shut?

have already had to remove the drivers door panel this year when the window lifter guides broke, this was a nightmare first time. Do you know normally is it just a sticky solinoid or are they prone to failure or can it be broken cables in the door jam?

If the button is lifting when you pull the handle, it won’t be a broken cable, it will be a failed door lock mechanism and it is a complete sketch to get them open, there is no VW procedure for this. I have heard of people having to cut the pillar striker plate off with an air hacksaw but I haven’t had to resort to this yet.
