My car is due for a oil change and i was curious about the service intervals. While browsing the castrol oil site i found this under the oil rec. for my car...
'3. Service Interval QG1 = Flexible Service Interval (Long-life service). Service Interval QG0/2 = Time/distance dependent interval (non-flexible)' Apparantly they can be found on the identification plate!

Now my car is a golf mk4 tdi 130 PD. I have looked all over the car for anything with one of these codes on it and cant find a thing. Also i looked at the service book and its in German! Now either the car was bought in Germany and ended up here ( says nothing about it on reg form) or they just send them out with german service books!

Any idea how i can find out for sure?

I have purchased oil already as i do alot of miles and its already just passed the 'service now' request. i got one for PD engines vw 501.01 or something like that, but def for PD engines. I plan on changing it regulary and arent keen on long life services, always felt its better to get nice fresh oil in sooner, esp as i tend to drive her like my old leon Cupra!

check measured alue blocks 41,42,42,43,44 flexible will be set to 730 days oil quality 2 or look in the spare wheel wheel for the data sticker.Nearly all vw were set to time and distance, which would be 365 days and oil quality 01

A sticker of codes should state the QG code in the handbook, if not as above checking with a VAGCOM
