    Hi,
I'm currently using a shareware version of VCDS Lite, downloaded from the RossTech site.
I need to set the pump timing after a belt change, the graphing option isn't available on the Shareware version.
A quick look at the Ross tech site suggests that the $99 registered version doesn't give this option either.

Is this correct, and if so, is it only available on the full $270 package? Or is it not available at all on VCDS?

    Thanks,
    Cieran

You need the later fully registered version, the vcds lite might not give you the option...

    Thanks,
By fully registered do you mean the $99 one or the full kit one?
I can see measuring blocks 8, group 4 but I can't switch to 'basic settings'.

No that is not correct. You need Basic Settings active so the $99 licensed version will enable the basic settings, adaptations and output tests.

You can also run the TDiGraph, the graphing function for diesel injection timing. It was included in your download but will not run without the full license.

Hi, although I can now get 'Basic Settings', I can't see a 2.5 AKE option in the TDi Graph drop down menu.
I can see it there in the menu on the RossTech YouTube video! Just can't see it in my version.

If I look at the live data in Basic Settings, group 4, the Spec. Start fluctuates between Early and Late, with a change of engine tone and the glow plug light flashing.
I don't know how to interpret this in terms of adjustment needed.
Elsa Win says with Display Zone 4 reading 100%, observe display zone 2, should read Retarded, then check display zone 3, should be 2 ATDC +/- 2.

But display zone 4 is the cold start valve, and that reads nowhere near 100% when the temp is upto 80 degrees.

Likewise in measuring blocks group 4, there's no fluctuation but I'm not sure how to interpret the data given.

Any ideas please, it's taken me half an hour to get the old tank up to temperature, now I'm stuck

OK scratch that, failure to follow basic instructions!

Found the TDI Graph in group 000, where it always was.
No AKE engine option in the drop down menu, I can see its there on the RossTech YouTube video, but can't see it on my version???

    Any Ideas?

Bet you missed this little gem on the instruction page:
When using VCDS-Lite, only ECU's that have timing checked in Basic Settings group 000 will show the TDI Timing button. For V6 TDI ECU's that use Basic Setting in group 004, refer to the factory repair manual for specs.

So, as I am not diesel guy and do not have experience with engines that did not come to this side of the pond, I am going to have to suggest that you do as the instruction says - refer to the factory repair manual. Sorry...

OK thanks Bruce, I'll take this over to the Audi specific forum, see what others have done.
