Hello All, Just fitted an aftermarket Alpine Headunit and Boot Changer to my 2000 MK4 Golf which all works fine but now i have lost my central locking with the remote. The central locking works from the door switches but not from my fob and no flashing of indicators either. I put 2 new batteries in the remote with no joy, checked all the fuses in the outer driver's panel which are fine. My old stereo was the standard Gamma Radio Cassette. I fitted my new alpine useing an ISO adaptor. Can't understand why i have lost my remote signal so it appears. Can anyone be of help please. Regards Zues

Thanks for your help and advice Tony, Sorted the problem out yesterday. I took the head unit back out and found that the new ISO extention lead was wired wrong for my golf, the ignition live and permanent live were going to the battery permanent, also the electric aeriel wire was connected when it should not of been. Anyway i re-connected in the right order and now my Remote works the central locking again. Silly me, i should of noticed this being a mechanic an all. Goes to show that you cannot trust these cheap ISO leads from Ebay. Thanks again Zues.

    Hi,
Can you help me, I've got a similar problem on my b5 passat. I removed the fitted stereo and CD and put my Sony single din unit in. I bought a vw lead from a local car spares shop and fitted it. The stereo stays on after the ignition is off so I have to turn the unit off manually each time. The remotes have stopped working, only can be used via the key in the door. I have read that I might need to cut the k line wire from black plug pin 3 to protect the diagnostics. Not sure which wires I need to cut or adjust in order to keep the memory settings and for the remotes to work. Obviously the eight wire plug are the speakers ,
    Cheers
    Terry
