Hi Have just bought a A4 Cab 2003 2.5 Tdi Sport, which is fitted with a tape deck and 6cd head unit (double unit). I have seen some satnav head units on Ebay and thought they would fit straight in, but when I phoned my local Audi dealer they informed me they would not and to get one to fit I would have to change all the heater controls.
Now I'm not sure if he was just thinking about the one model I mentioned
the 8EO 035 192 Q or if he meant all the satnav units. So my question is does anybody know if this is correct and if not will they all fit or will there be only one perticular model that fits my car?
Also has anybody bought any of these units of Ebay before?

    Thanks for any help

Factory sat navs are not worth fitting, buy a tomtom instead and save the cash and aggro.

Is there anything different with connections or are they all the same?

I have heard that these are not the best satnavs but was also interested in the fact that they play mp3 discs and have memory card slots, and for the price they are selling on ebay it's not far off a decent mp3 head unit.

    Thanks

Sounds good! So why did the Audi dealer tell me they wouldn't fit, do you reckon they were just trying to put me off.

Every one i have used, in VAG Cars also Nissan Ford and so on, aren't user friendly, aren't uptodate, Cost loads to update software as they require a new disc, granted they look neat and you can also use them for tv dvd ect, at very low speed, i'd rather have an uptodate as possible user friendly sat nav myself, but that is my opinion.

That might be a problem because the guy at audi told me they wouldn't fit anything second hand even if it did fit, so would I be able to get it coded anywhere else (by the way what do you mean by coding anyway?).

    Thanks for your time.

take a look at these guides

    http://www.nsxjr.com/downloads.html

it should give you a much better insight into what is involved.

you have the double din unit which is a bonus, as the single to double din conversion involves taking most of the dash apart, and also getting a different climate controller as the surround is a slightly different shape at the bottom of the console. (probably what the audi dealer meant).
