Help, Aircon Information wanted - External air temp sensor location

Hi All; I'm totally stuffed, my 2005 1.9tdi polo sport was front ended last year, and ive finally put it all back together & using it daily, BUT, no aircon. I saved & took in into a local chap, & he recharged the aircon, but...... no joy. He could not turn it on, ie get the compressore to kick in. At this point, we have climate control & he noticed no external temp on the read out. (the read out on aircon flashed for about 30 seconds when key turned on). Anyway, I did not see the external air sensor when i fitted the new bumper & i'm worried it got pulled off in the accident with the old bumper. I need to find the external air temp to check it is still in existance. All help appreciated

Progress has beem made, I have fitted new sensor, today it read 20 degree, but the climatronic display still flashed & the air con wont kick in..... any idea's
