Yeah its damn right depressing that they buy for 4grand they sell on for around 6grand just by slapping a VW APPROVED sticker on it

    The unfairness

and also the biggest rip off is this ECU stuff, they charge us £70 JUST TO TELL US what the hell is wrong with our cars, thats daylight robbery I tell you that ourrr kid! lol
all car dealers base their part ex valuation on glass's guide, not just VW but also little-old-bloke with the garage on the corner

A very handy bit of information there!

A word of warning on Glass's though. I recently sold a car and I got offered 70-90% of the Glass's valuation. Even after I showed the car to 4 dealers and rang several others I only managed to get 90%. The car was mint (which you wouldnt expect on a 7 year old car) so that price must have been overvalued.

For a laugh I just valued my new 57 plate A4. The part ex value was £200 more than I paid an approved Audi dealer for it last month! It didn't even ask about the options (it has sat nav, bluetooth etc) which would have pushed the price up even more. I took major advantage of a salesman who was struggling to reach his figures at the end of the month but I'm sure he wouldn't have sold it at a loss!

I think Glass's may need to rebase their valuations in light of the drop in used car prices recently!

Welcome to this excellent forum by the way.

Glass's guide and all the others must be having a right old time trying to guess the trend. Dealers are offering right old bargains and deals.

Thank you. It is indeed an excellent forum.

It's amazing the deals you can get in the current climate. The Audi I've just bought cost £31,500 new yet I picked it up from an Audi dealer with just 10k on the clock and only 10 months old for £17k, barely over half that.

Same here but then it was never going to be good for my A6 2.7T as it is of course in the top bracket for road tax in the future

Paid £8,500 on 1st February and 8 months later it trades at around £4,500.

Still I bought it to keep for 3 years and may even have it converted to LPG.

Steve, don't bother with LPG. Flog it for a diesel! LPG will soon be the price of petrol & diesel plus LPG isn't as efficient and you loose some bhp too. It's minging.
