Tomorrow I will purchase a 2008 golf gt sport (Switzerland) and want to know if anyone has experience with ipod preparation for this new model with mp3 function. Previous threads appear to be less than enthusiastic. I currently use an FM transmitter. Is the ipod prep worth it? Any advice will be appreciated from this new member.

Xcarlink and denison gate way seem to be the prefered options. I believe both allow you to maintain the use of the cd changer in the centre armrest.

I have just bought A3 Sportsback and had the ipod preparation. I find it a waste of money The connector doesn't show tracks or albums - just a list of numbers therefore impossible to find anything, just an expensive charger.. Better to use the aux socket provided and the ipod screen.

Dont do it - it sounds rubbish! If you regularly charge it, you can get a Dietz lead and 3.5mm phono jack plug. All done for £30 with not far off the same functionality!

Ahh its a lead that goes in the back of your radio that gives two female phono plugs - about £25. Ask satnavsystems as they have them!
