    Hello all,
Sorry that my first post is with a problem, but here it is.
I have owned a 2003 MK 4 golf since new and I decided to do the oil change myself (I am a competent person). This went well with no problems as expected. Car closed up ok no problems with alarm. The next day Ichecked the oil level and then reset the service indicator using the method detailed on this site. Now the alarm goes off after a period of time once locked using the key fob. Is this due to the service reset? What else would cause this and is there anything I can do to try to diagnose the problem?

    It is probably coincidence.

The most likely cause is a dodgy door lock mechanism or the microswitch in it.
Do your interior lights work as normal ? If not suspect the door lock.

Other than that, you need to get the car scanned to find out more, look in the vagcom subforums on here for info on scanning.
