    Hi guys,

Bought a second hand Passat 1.8T Sport a few days ago, and just sorting out a few problems...

When i got the car the battery was dead (which i knew about) so i replaced it with a brand spanker, all sorted. I have had no problems with the alarm/central locking etc since battery replacement.

Another issue i was sorting was that the standard fit radio wasn't working, got myself a set of radio keys and took the unit out to find that the 10A fuse at the rear was blown... replaced this, radio synched with car all sorted me thinks...

Now whenever i lock the car (and hence activate the alarm) it goes off at a random time from 1 min after i set it to anything up to 15mins :-s

Any ideas? Have i disturbed something when i changed the fuse in the head unit?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Matt

If you press the remote once to lock the car do you indicators flash? And if you press the lock button on the remote a second time to disarm the alarm does it still go off?

Another possibility and a common source of gremlins for the electrics and the alarm, is the seal on the pollen filter leaking. This leaks water on to the wiring loom behind the trim left hand side of front passenger foot well and the convenience control unit which lives under the carpet in the same location. Check to see if your carpet is damp/wet

Do a search for "alarm" and a search for "water" and you will see lots of threads on the subject.
