Wow...just read some of the posts on the leaky roof seals on the Eos....having had a number of cabs over the past few years (MX5 ,E30 cabby ,Z3) it is a problem I can associate with!!
A good tip for leaking seals is to spray them with silicone lubricant (can get it from *********). It appears to swell the rubber a bit and thus prevents leaks...has worked successfully for all my cabs and tends to last for at least a couple of months per application!

Hope this helps...it certainly won't do any harm.

Not sure about not doing any harm. There is a proper VW treatment for the seals. I got a treatment pack supplied free with my car. You can buy a bottle of the stuff from VW but it ain't cheap.

Have read elsewhere that you must not under any circumstances use silicon for the roof seals!

You're supposed to use DuPont Krytox, available in small bottles for a small fortune from VW dealers (although it's not labelled Krytox as it's got a VW part number, but it's the same stuff).

Fair do's...must be a special rubber on the seals ?but as I say it is quite a well known fix for 'normal' cabs but not worth invalidating your warranties as it sems likely it will be something that will be looked at some point??
BTW dupont krytox is a kind of silicone lubricant

My dealer refused to sell me Krytox saying that there was no need as the seals will be treated as part of routine servicing.

That's not good. I got mine direct from the parts department, just quoted the part number.

Please can someone advise me what to do? I bought an EOS late last year and have been plagued with a leaking roof, just above the drivers seat. I have had no satisfaction with the local dealership who asked me, 'where did i think the roof water would go?' I work as a community midwife and need regular access to both my boot and my back seat and the water POURS into both areas. Am ready to scream and am contemplating rejecting the car, as previous attempts to rectify a boot leak and window leak have been unsuccessful. I need a permanent solution for both boot and roof leaks. Please help!!

Not sure what to say really. The dealer is being extremely unhelpful and comments like 'where did i think the roof water would go?' are laughable and pretty insulting to you.

Is it a new EOS (so under a year old) ? On a new car it shouldn't be a seal problem that would respond to seal lubrication but perhaps misaligned panels or somesuch. Could you get it to a different dealer for investigation ? You could perhaps try contacting VW to see what they can suggest.

Only use special VW lubricant G 052 172 A2 (£43 for 100ml) or else the seals can become damaged which can cause the roof to jam.

The best alternative for the genuine Krytox is einszett's Gummi Pflege Stift. It's essentially the same kind of lubricant, also made in germany but much cheaper. Check out the rave reviews on amazon Amazon.com: einszett 914806 'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick - 3.4 fl. oz: Automotive and this one How to Lubricate Volkswagen EOS Roof to Prevent and Fix Water Leak
