Hi,I really need some advice from somebody about what to do with my car. Golf gt tdi 150 hp 54 reg. Went out in it yesterday - all fine - parked and locked it but about an hour later my son noticed that the indicators were flashing (mirrors only) no sound. Opened car and started it up - mirrors still flashing and warning came up "bonnet open". Bonnet wasnt open - and hadnt been opened for some time! Had a neighbour lift bonnet (I cant even open bonnet, as I found out yesterday... Checked fuses and heard a clicky sound come from engine - fan came on by itself and then the car would start but go off again straght away. Had to disconnect battery to stop flashing. Had auto electician around this morning to run test - no faults came up. Now its all gone haywire. The interior lights wont come on - the handbrake warning light is on - the mirrors still flash but no sound and the bloody car still wont start. I am absolutely broke at the moment due to my newfoundland dog having emergency op and really cant afford vw prices. I purchased the car second hand at around 10 months old. Help!! (Please).

    Hey there,

That sounds like it could be something expensive, or it could be something as stupid as a connector has wokred loose and is confusing the car totally!!
I would either get it to a VW garage for a look or get someone with VAG-COM to have a look and see i any specific modules are showing faults and check every connection you can get your hands on in the car!!

Sorry I can't be of much more help!!
Let us know how it goes.

    Cheers

    Paul

    Hi there Paul
Thanks for replying. Another member of the site suggested that I check the fuses that I had moved in the engine and I have just moved one up a notch and the car now starts up, thank god. Now the only problem is its still flashing - not saying bonnet anymore - just saying airbag fault now! flashing - at least its not the immobiser like I thought.
    Thanks again
    Susan
