    Hello Everyone
Just joined the Forum: my first Forum on any subject, so pleased to electronically meet you all.
Does anyone know what the recommended tyre pressure is for a Golf GT TDI 140 (O6 reg) with tyres described as "225/45R 17 91 with Y tyre width restricted to 219 mm?"
In the manual it says that information on tyre pressures is given on the back of the fuel cap flat but it seems to be expressed in a form with which I'm unfamilar. It says "Cold tyre inflation pressures" and then there's a symbol representing 2 people with one piece of luggage with the numbers 2,3 for front tyres and 2,3 for back, followed by a symbol representing 5 people with 3 peices of luggage with the numbers 2,5 for front and 3,0 for back.
I don't know what these numbers represent but it doesn't sound like pounds per square inch to me!
The wife (her outdoors) is using the Golf for the demanding 2 mile commute to her workplace, which isn't very sustainable.
Hope the Golf proves as reliable as my very unfashionable Rover 620 turbo-diesel which is 12 years old and done 98k.
Eventually we will move down to one car, the Golf, if and when the Rover gives up the ghost.
Cheers and Beers from the untechnical hogwash.
    Many Thanks

Welcome to the forum Hogwash. You're probably best posting this in the general car chat topic for an answer, not everyone reads this part of the forum.

    Good luck!

I have the same car and tyres. i have mine at 30psi all round

2,5 and 3,0 as you describe is bar so that would be 2.5 bar and 3 bar.

bar is to psi what celcius is to farenheight and metric is to imperial.

most decent non digital tyre pressure gauges will have both bar and psi on them.

    welcome to the forum
