I recently had problems with my TDi 115 going into limp mode either on motorways or when when under pressure going up hills etc.. Luckily for me I'd not long bought the car and after taking the car back to the garage 3 times I eventually had a new N75, new MAFs then a new turbo fitted under warranty. Wonderful I thought, this must be sorted. I decided that as I'd just bought the car I'd get the cambelt changed just to be on the safe side, I had one snap on a peugeot once and vowed always to get a new one put on each car I bought. I've got a cousin who has his own garage that specialises in BMW's but he said he'd do the cambelt for me and it would be cheaper than going to anyone else. So I've driven the car to his garage over the weekend, this is the first decent run its had since I had the turbo fitted. All the way there it was fine, then my cousin used the car to get him home that afternoon, and its dropping into limp mode again. I can't believe it. Surely its had everything that could need doing done already?!
My cousin only really has bmw diagnostic equipment but he knows a garage close to him that has vagcom and they've offered to plug it in quckly and get a code read for him.
Originally the car only seemed to go into Limp mode for me when on motorways but my cousin is telling me its now happening all the time, even when just using it for slow town driving.
I'll post again as soon as I have the code off vagcom but is there anything other than the N75, the MAFS and a turbo that could need doing? I'm hoping that it may have just dropped a hose on the drive to my cousins hence why its now dropping into limp mode more frequently than it was before.
I'm pretty gutted, thought this was all sorted after I got the nice shiny new turbo. I've owned the car for nearly 3 months and I think out of all of that its spent about 2 months in a garage of some sort.
    Mike.

I would think the only things that are left to look at are a split/dislodged turbo hose or a split/dislodged vacuum hose, you've pretty much done everything else.

Just heard back, and unfortunately my Cousin couldn't remember the exact code that vagcom brought up but he did say it was bringing up a code that pointed towards an intermittent MAP sensor error? I'm assuming that since its already had the MAFS, Turbo and N75 done this has to be the last thing. Is this an expensive component to buy? He's driving the car now and its fine apparently, hence the intermittent error code I guess.
    Thanks
    Mike

Hi The MAP sensor is a typical culprit to the symptoms you are having, not very expensive, can be a bugger to change sometimes,

Its already had the new MAF. This time the fault code is pointing towards the MAP sensor.

I change lots of MAP sensors (what VAG call "Thrust sensors") on Passat/A4/A6 but not on Golf/A3. Where did the turbo come from?

I'm not entirely sure where the turbo came from. It was fitted under warranty from the garage I bought the car from.
The car is now at my cousins garage as I asked him to change my cambelt. He drove it and said it was still dropping into limp mode. He had a garage down the road that has vag-com run a test and they said it was coming up with a code that pointed towards a dodgy map sensor. The car has already had a new MAFS, new N75 and new turbo ( I got my cousin to check the turbo was new and I'd not been fobbed off, he said it was a nice shiny new one).

Can you find out the fault code? It is probably 17965. To test the MAP sensor you accelerate at full throttle in third gear whilst watching the MAP sensor output in Measuring Blocks 08, Display Group 011, Display Zone 3 and the figure should not exceed 2880 mbar or stick. The figure at 3000 rpm should be noted to check against the specified boost of 2000 to 2200 mbar.
