Parcel shelf slipping off

Hi I am new to this site so bear with me. I have an Audi A4 avant 1.8T 190 s line. I have a problem with the parcel shelf keep slipping off lugs which hold the cover shut. It seems to be fairly tight and nothing seems broken. But when I start driving over bumps it comes out and the estate parcel shelf is open. By the way went to Audi and they give me some clips to try but can't even see how they fit. Any sugestions ?

The same is happening to me with my Avant. It really pi**es me off as where I live its "speed bump city", I cant get 200 yards down the road without hearing this "whoosh bang" as the shelf reels itself in. I think the lugs are too slack for the holes, might be worth trying some electric tape round them to "beef" them up a bit?

Just had my 1.8T Avant nearly 2 weeks and now I know why someone's put blue-tack in the lugs!! Seems to work a treat though, so maybe you could try that!

Had my avant nearly 3years never had this problem- maybe you`ve all been unlucky or me just lucky !!!!!!!!

Mine does this too and the main ******* says "yes they do that" - erm not on a nearly 30k bloody car they don't. Lacutus care to elaborate about the clips provided/send pics??

yes too right Dan, if my 10 grand Ford Focus didn't do it I sure as hell dont expect a car of this cost to do it. Its every time I hit a damn speed bump!

I dont even need to hit a speed bump for mine to do it!

Hey mine too!! the first time it done it i nearly ran in to the car in front, havent found a fix yet but am sure interested if you find one that works, course we could all go a bit slower over rough ground you know 2-3 mph....... Nahhhhhhh!!

Hi Dan I have used the Blue Tack as a quick fix this morning as sugested by one of the threads. So shall see how this goes but don't want this as a permanent fix. Tried to send pic of clip but can't insert it. It is a v shaped clip with ends folded over about the length of a two pence coin. But can't think what they would clip onto. Seems a few other people are having the same problem with parcel shelf as well.

Hi..

Digging up an old thread here.. but my roller-parcel-shelf is always popping out of it's slots!

Does anybody have a part number for the clips Audi provide (as mentioned in LACTUS' post) or has anybody else come up with an inventive way of solving the problem?
