Sounds like a real step forward in car design.....

My problem of multiple lights coming on was eventually fixed by VW in Stockport who diagnosed that 2 of the 3 sensors that need to talk to each other were not wired up correctly and NEVER had been, hence the odd warnings. 1 sensor was the cam position, other was exhaust temp. They were intrigued how the car could have even reached 5000 miles in such a condition.

Maybe it's dodgy wiring that is causing some of these problems?

Yep...! Attempt to make diesel cars cleaner by installing some new filter system, then go driving at higher revs every so often to clean those filters thus burning excess diesel during the process thus rendering the new system totally useless...

Splendid new innovation... I salute you Mr. clever car designer... (duh!)...

Good news, fault traced to faulty exhaust pressure sensor. Repair fixed under warrenty.
Dealer had info leaflets about the particle filter, if light comes on instruction is to "drive continuousle for about 10 to 15 mins at a speen of least 40MPH on 4th or 5th gear, to maintain an engine spped no less than 2000RPM" This is different to handbook and was advised to folllow this advice.
    Happy again.

I've had my VW Blue Motion about 6 weeks. The DPF came on after a couple of weeks and I followed the instructions in the manual, which said take it for a drive in 4th/5th gear for 10-15 mins (I drive mostly in town). This remedied it and the light stayed off for a bit. Now it has come on again... in fact another 3 times. I spoke to a friend who said that wasn't right and to contact VW....

Today I contacted vw (as the light has come on again), who said that it says in the manual that as the light has come on more than twice, my warrantly is void for the DPF!!! It does NOT say this in my manual, in fact, it says contact your dealership if the light STAYS on.

....I took my car for ride... as suggested and the light is now staying on, (although I am not sure that the run was at high enough revs, having red other people's posts). I need to contact my dealership, but can someone please advise on the best way to approach them... I cannot believe that they are able to void my warranty for this.

    Thanks in anticipation, Jane

Sorry to hear that they are giving you grief.

A light on is a light on and they should deal with it. Take it to another vw garage.

2000 revs and above for 15-20 minutes.

mine came on a while ago now, hasn't been on since.

Mine was not a faulty or blocked DPF, something else.
If you follow the instructions in your handbook exactly, i don't see how VW can get out of fixing it under warrenty.
BTW i read somewhere, but cant remember where, that for mainly town driving and short journies a petrol engined car may be more suitable.
Hope you get thing sorted out.

You read a post on here about someone that was told by a VW sales person that a DPF'd car is no good for shorter journeys.

As long as the exhaust and DPF get up to temperature to burn off (regenerate) the Particles then the car will be fine.

So drive the car like it should be driven.

That's what I thought! But the guy I spoke to at the service centre said that it states you have to contact vw if it comes on more than twice... sounds like b****cks to me! In my manual, it says contact vw if it STAY on (which now it has done ) Anyway, I am definatley going to phone them tomorrow and fight my corner.
