Warning light - Emissions Control System - on

Hi everyone - new to forum and just bought an Audi A6 Avant Sport Triptonic 2003.
Just been out for a short drive and the dashboard fault light came on which the book tells me is for the Emissions Control System and also tells me to go to Audi dealer!
Has anyone had a similar fault and can perhaps advise a simple solution please?

can be any number of sensors, connections etc. that will trigger the fault.

You need to read the fault codes that will tell you where to start. This can be done easily if you have a laptop running the VAG-COM freeware, and the right lead which should cost under £25 from a specialist or e-bay.

If not you need to go to a main dealer or specialist who will usually charge around £75 for the honnor. (get a quote before going ahead of course)
