Hi my name is Jose Augusto, I live in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. I own a 1999 Passat 1.8 T AEB engine, and I am expriencing some problems:

In first gear it would rev to 5000rpm and then cut out. It would feel like it was geargling the petrol. On hard acceleration the (3rd gear and above) the engine will not rev beyond 3500-4000 rpm. It does not feel like a misfire, just as if the rev limiter has cut in early. Fuel pressure seems ok, and the turbo is not smoking. Can any one help? Has anyone experienced these same problems? In the Golf Forum, I found a very similar problem that was resolved by changing tha MAF ans the Lambdaīs. Has this work for anyone?

Also where I can find the MAF in this car?

    Best Regards

    Jose Augusto

Hello and welcome to the forum. The MAF is inside the air box. You should get a fault code read done first.
