The clutch is on its last legs on my car. Mind you, it's done 250k! Car was passed on to me from my father in law and it's still going strong - bar the rust.

So the clutch is on its way out. The F-I-L says I should take it back to Lincoln where he had it worked on and serviced to get done as they know the history of the car and he's always been happy with them. I think it said it would be about £200. But that means driving over there from where I live in the Midlands, and waiting there while he works on it.

Surely a new clutch would be a bt cheaper than that - and it's a bog standard job I could get done where I live? Or would other people stick to a reliable mechanic even if it meant spending a bit more?
