Hey everyone,

I recently acquired an absolute bargain Golf Mk3 1.4 'ryder'. It is fitted with a 4-speed gearbox (presumably it was built this way, I doubt the old lady I bought it off would know where to begin with such things...), which I thought quite unusual for a 1.4, but anyway I was just curious whether it is at all possible/plausible to replace this with a 5-speed gearbox from another golf of the same model?
I was in a tight spot when I bought this car and was in no position to be fussy, but i'd much rather have a 5-speed gearbox on this size engine. It was acceptable in my old 1.0 litre Citroen ax, but seems like a bit of a joke in this!

Cheers for any advice everyone and anyone!
