    can anyone help.

I am having throttle body changed. Mechanic tells me it will need re-setting after being replaced. Is this true?. If yes how do you reset it.

hi , i`m afraid you have been informed correctly , once the throttle body is replaced , cleaned you have to have it readapted to the ecu , Vw dealers can do this at a high cost or you can get yourself VAG-Com look it up in google and do it yourself or find a small garage to do this . Where in the world are you there may be somone on here that can readapt it for you depending on location. Oh yes and what model of car is it and year ?> I Hope this helps

    Hi Steadly

Thank you for your response. That reassures me that the mechanic is telling the truth. I am in Huddersfield West Yorkshire. I am going to try and get this sorted tonight by a mehanic. still waiting for him to ring me to confirm time. I'll keep you posted. Sorry the car is avw polo 1.4 cl 1998.

    Hi Steadly,

Just had throttle replaced and it has all been realigned. Working perfectly at the moment. Hasn't cut out once on my 5 mile long journey back. will c in a few days as I won't hold my breath. Thanks for all the info.

Fitting and realigning included cost £20.00 in total. Throttle cost £47.00 from scrap yard

    Cheers
