Mine is better than the gone Leon, but is slowly improving - the trip computer for each journey is a bit of a liar, so I work it out properly making note of mileage for each fillup. In an Excel version, I have graphs for petrol costs and mpg in an Excel version.....

    Have a look:

Yes, I need to get out more....

No, don't go out more, I'll send you some figs and you can do one for me!

Seriously, I don't do a colossal mileage, so fuel consumption isn't a big thing for me. Converting from litres/100km gives about 41mpg, but that's the computer's figure. Because of the nature of the roads round here, I spend a lot of time in 4th.

I also tend to stick to speed limits - two fines of 90€ (and points), one in the car and the other on my Suzuki, have curbed my excesses....

I've done a couple of runs down to the coast on autoroutes at 130-140kph, and it's been better than 41, so I'm happy.

I could send you the spreadsheet upon which this is based if you like - all you do is put in your date, miles, what the fuel cost and the amount you put in and it'll work the rest out for you COnverting it so you put in litres, is simple enough

I really, really need to get a hobby Lol

Im getting on the cars trip, an average of 33 mpg but i live in the city and do lots of short trips mainly.Coming from my Mk5 Golf GTi with the 2 litre TFSi, was getting only around 23-25 mpg, hense one of the reasons for its departure.
Ive done a long journey to london and back averaging i thought an incredible 53.4 mpg !doing a steady 70-75mph there and back. oh the joys of now owning a diesel!

I only get about 45 mpg at a constant 70 to 75 mph in 6th gear on the motorway.

Depends what I am doing with it mostly. Crusing down the motorway at 80, oops, 4up I can easily get 45 to the gallon. My trip to work, approx. 5 miles, in Milton Keynes, I get about 34 or so. This is hard on the car, 70mph on dual carriageway for half a mile, brake, roundabout, accelerate to 70 again.

I have twice now managed to achieve well over 50. Once in Germany in some roadworks for miles on end, I got 53 mpg. And back in November from my home to Heathrow, not in a rush, plenty of time for the flight, so cruised down at 70 mph. Did 53 miles at an average of 55.3 mpg, so less then a gallon.

This is all manual working, 55 reg 2.0TDI sport, and no cruise control, all done with my right foot.

    Can't fault it really.

I've had my 2.0 tdi SE for 2 years now (from new). I've done 52k miles. The best return I get, oddly enough, is on the M25, where I average 60 - 70 mph, and get just over 52 mpg on the computer. I reckon the computer over-estimates by about 8%, so I think high 40s (48-49mpg) is about as good as I get.

Generally I'll estimate at about 40mpg overall (assuming I'm being reasonably gentle) unless there's something out of the ordinary happening in my driving habits.

I did a fast run of 85 miles on Christmas day morning and managed to get the reading down to 26.7mpg average for the journey. The journey took 62 minutes.

(Quatrelle et al please do the maths and tell me how bad I am)

I reckon if I didn't drive the car at the weekend (short journeys, etc) I'd get about 47-48, but stop-start traffic (and the GF driving the car) reduces it. It's still better than the Leon
