    Hi All,

Last weekend I entered my 97 A3 and discovered a swimming pool in the passenger footwell.

The coolant had dropped some but apparently not by as much as was in the car - that might be my imagination.

My initial thought was the heater matrix. I've since driven the car a few hundred miles without problem (I've set the heater to cold) and the coolant hasn't dropped.

Is it likely that the matrix is shot?

Does anyone have a "How to replace the A3 heater matrix"? Is it feasible to DIY?

Any ideas on what this will cost to fix at an Audi garage?

    Any input will be appreciated.

    diggy

Hi i had this problem with my a3 back in november.
Audi inspected it and traced it to the passenger door, not letting rain water escape. water was collecting behind the door card around the speaker. They replaced, cleaned and resealed all the parts needed under warranty.

Apparently the problem can also occur if one of the aircon valves gets blocked....

maybe worth getting it looked at!

not sure if this is relevant or not but if the wiper scuttle panel drain holes become blocked in the bulkhead you can end up with water getting in the bulkhead area and soaking the passenger side floor.

had this problem with an A4 and it ended up shorting out the central locking, interior light & electric window ECU module.

    cheers

Same thing happened to my mates leon cupra r, got taken in to garage and was told the door seals were letting water in when it rains, not sure if it only happens when it rains for you, but apparntly is a common fault.
