Newbie in need of some advice. The car is a 98 Sport, covered 190K and been pushing water out of the reservior for some months. A garage has told me its likely to be the head gasket and would cost £600-800 to repair. A couple of years back (160K) the cambelt went and the valve made contact with a piston. The garage at the time said i was lucky and should be ok but were cautious about long term life of repair. Until now the car has run fine.
My questions are:
1. Is it worth spending the money (in view of mileage)?
2. Let garage send head away? or recon / s'hand / new head? Or perhaps full recon or s'hand engine?

A couple of years ago i would have had a go myself but these days not enough time or patience! Thanks in advance! Richard
