I have a bluetooth preparation in my new passat, but for some reason i cant seem to pair it with my phone!
I have return to the dealer, they tried it on their phone(a nokia) and it works ok! They told me it may be my sim card which may need something called SRS on it?!!
I have a sony ericsson w800i and have tried searching fornew devices on it but it always say no new device found. Its the same thing when i try doing it on the cars bluetooth menu, also say cant find pair!!?
I know the bluetooth on my phone works, cos i tested it.

Does anyone know what else i can do.? Does this bluetooth only works for Nokia phones?
And is the garage telling me porkies ablout SRS on my sim card?

Would be greatful if anyone has any suggestions.

Never heard of SRS but have you checked any security settings on your phone and car? My w810i is a little tempramental anyway using bluetooth, though I haven't got Bluetooth in my car...

Blue tooth phone pairing is indeed tricky. I myself have found that only one phone ii particular will pair and work correctly with this VW system. ( I have no idea if it is srs enabled or not and the manual does not state.)
The model of phone which is succesful is the Nokia 6610.
Get one of these and you will be fine!

Cant believe this is the only phone that works surely the later generation bluetooth phones are also compatible ?
Whats the 16 digit code that has to be inputted into the phone all about. 4 digits should be secure enough ?!?

    thanks to all thats reply.

You are right about the nokia 6610, cos the bloke at VW used a 6610
    to prove its working!!

But he was also confused that it didnt work on my sony ericsson.
Cos the system suppose to be universal!!?

Its is frustrating cos i have bluetooth prep in the car which is useless, unless i get a 6610!!

I have done some research on the bluetooth preparation on the new passat.Because i cant seem to get any answers even from VW uk!! Aparently they dont have much imformation about it!!Very disappointing!!

Anyway, the bluetooth preparation is developed by Nokia. And aparently it is (at the moment) the first time this system is been used!? Meaning no other cars on the market today has such a system! Only the new Passat.

The problem was, not all mobile phones works on this system. From what i found , Only mobiles with SAP (SIM ACCESS PROFILE) can use this bluetooth prep. And there arent many mobiles out there with this function (even the latest ones!) The only phones i know so far that works are the Nokia N-series and some other nokia phones, but have yet to find another phone from another makes that works with this system. Which is ashame because the bluetooth prep. on my car is a great and useful piece of device. And which mean in order to use this system i haveto get a new phone!!!

Hope this will help anyone who ticked this option and found they cant use the system and dont know why!?

hello mickwillow, have you try it with other phones?
Did you pair your phone up with a cradle(optional) ?
Went to a dealer, got a list of compatible phones. My phone was on the list, but they have no idea why it doesnt work? They reckon i need a cradle for it ?(thats £110) But i argue that the whole point of having bluetooth is so that you dont have to take your phone out of your pocket when you enter the car, because it will automatically recongnise your signal.
Very annoyed ,because got this excellent system but cant use it!!
    Will carry on pursuiting.
