Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I took it to a VW specialist to check that it hadn't logged any errors which it hadn't.

The Oil level sensor on a Diesel is mounted on the bottom of the sump on the opposite side of the sump from the drain plug.

I have changed the sensor today cost me £60 from VW and unfortunatly no joy the orange oil light and the message Check Oil Level still appears.

Any ideas greatluy received. I have heard of dash boards that need caliberating who could do this might it solve the problem.

    Cheers Ben

Hi With the ignition off, remove one off the battery terminals for 1 minute, see if it helps.

Disconnected battery for 1 minute. Problem seems to be solved. I will take it for a test drive in a bit and check it doesn't come back on.

Thanks very much for the advise much appreciated.

    Ben.

Probably it will come back after 60 miles :-( same problem here, no need to disconnect the battery, just stop the engine, leave the keys in the ignition, and open the hood for a minute.
