Headlight problem

Managed to get time to check fuse SB26 ok (12v in/out) & plug D Pin 1 also has 12v.
One thing i forgot to mention (looking through more research) the battery has flattened a couple of times as it is a second vehicle & sometimes not used for a couple of weeks or so & i have had to charge the battery, and this can cause some/all of the problems i am having. (sorry totally forgot to mention ). I assume there is an open circuit somewhere else.

Can I change out my BCM for a new one with the same number to avoid recoding or will it need to be recoded anyway

The BCM is usually a VIN protected item and a used one my not function in another car as the CAN BUS will detect the VIN is incorrect. A used one may have different Long Coding so that would need to be checked and altered but that is no issue. I have had so much grief with used parts over the last 40 years I have just about given up with them except when I am stuck. Last year I wanted to convert my Octavia to 6 speed and had to buy a used box to get started; I researched and chose the "warranted" box carefully but when driven on the overrun it sounded like a coffee grinder...

Lol yeah thought as much, i'm with you to be honest i have never used second hand parts (although i have not had to change any modules) but i can see where the problem could be & i unfortunately do not have VCDS, so i may have to bite the bullet & send this one out to the garage. Anyway thanks for your invaluable knowledge very much appreciated & i will let you know the outcome once iv'e got it sorted (fingers crossed)
