Cruise control

Hi all,
I've got a intermittent problem with my cruise control. It's been playing up for quite some time now but as i don't do any motorway driving on a regular basis i just ignored it.
It's bugging me now somewhat and i check to see if it's working nearly every time i go out. On average it works about once in fifty checks.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
I'm a bit "gadgetty" and just want any gizmo that's on the car to work.

You really need VCDS to get to the bottom of this quickly.

It needs the clutch & brake switches to be working, as well of course as the Cruise on/off switch.

Various other problems will also prevent it's operation.

I guess it's a trip to my local diagnostic tuners then, while i'm there i'll get then to look into the ECU and find the warm starting issue i have. The engine cranks over for about 5 or 6 seconds before it fires up when the engine's at working temperature.
