Hi looking for some advice regarding the RNS510 radio / satnav compatibility.

Are all the RNS510 radios compatible with a MK5 Golf (1K1)?

    I know I need to fit a:

    Bluetooth Module
    Compass
    GPS Antenna
    Reverse Camera (optional)

Seen a few guides around but remember seeing a good somewhere which was very detailed. Anyone seen this anywhere?

Is this radio DAB or just standard FM/AM? Or is it revision specific?

    1T0 035 680 B

    I know revision P isn’t a DAB RADIO.

Are the maps preinstalled or do you need a CD to update them or SD CARD?

Also know the car will need recoding using VCDS so I can activate everything.

Also will need the code for the radio otherwise it won’t work.

Any help would be appreciated to perform the upgrade.

    Thank you

I can recomend RCD 330 with Apple CarPlay.
Just connect your iPhone and it will use it's "Maps" and display on the screen.
    Fits well in MK5

Ok thank you shall get hunting for a RCD330 (with radio code!).

Does this radio also suffer from parasitic drain issues? Read a lot about the RNS510 causing issues.

You need to update the cars CANBUS with a new one + getting it coded.
Then it wont drain the battery. Get this shorted the same day as installing the radio, then you will be good to go.
I am 3 years later still happy with the RCD

You need to change the gateway/CANBUS to a new updated version and copy the cars old codes over to the knew.

You will need the radio code yes

A lot of stereos will work with the mark 5 golf but some are limited to not supporting steering wheel controls

The 510 does come with dab and Bluetooth built in as well so easier to get all in

My old golf has a rns315 out of a Tiguan fitted only thing you can’t do is use steering wheel controls

I fitted a dab aerial and gps aerial and worked out or the box (with code)

Never had any drain issues in last 8 months
