    Hi,

My mk5 2.0 diesel takes a few turns of the key to start sometimes, the RAC chap said probably fuel filter, so i am changing this as it seems fairly straight forward but is there anything to look out for? air locks etc?
    thanks

Think you will need one of those fuel pump syringes to draw fuel from the tank into the fuel filter and then form the fuel filter to the fuel rail / injectors otherwise you might get air in the system.

The fuel filter will need to be primed with fuel initially and then from the filter to the injectors / rail will need to be primed.

If the filter is full of black sludge, you will need to replace the tandem pump. Ideally you should also clean the entire system out but it will clean itself eventually. The best way to fill the filter can is by running the fuel pump with VCDS.

A camshaft sensor failure can also cause a slow start if the new fuel filter fails. This info will be stored in a scan.
