Had my car booked in for a service next week. When I booked it in was told it was subject to the starter/alternator recall and the parts were on back order. Dealer has called this morning to say they cannot do the service because the recall parts are still on back order and if I bring the car in for the service they cannot then let me have it back until the recall work has been done, so they won't do the service and look at the other faults. Very frustrated and from next week will have a car constantly reminding me that it needs a service

That’s a bit frustrating - you’d have thought they’d just do service and then get you back in for alternator recall.

Did they give any ideas re parts coming in as don’t you have to have service done within 30days / 1000miles of the relevant 0 days/miles countdown etc? (Assuming the 1,000miles won’t be an issue currently)

No date given, just "hopefully not too long". Issue will be that they have already said they want the car for 2 days so they can identify the cause of a number of faults and hopefully solve them, with software updates, so even once the part is available they will then have to find a slot where they can provide a loan car for 2 days. Apparently they can't release the car back to me with a known safety fault, but it is OK for me to drive around with a known safety fault. Health and Safety madness
