Good morning I’m looking at a 2016(golf) Jetta 2.0 tdi the weekend. The dealer recons it doesn’t use adblue? The only thing unusual I’ve seen is on the tdi badge the I is in blue? Any ideas on this guys? Many thanks

I think 2015/2016 cars were the changeover to adblue on VW diesels but I might be wrong. My 2015 Golf doesn’t have it. Quickest way to check on a Golf ( I presume this is the same for the Jetta) is to open the fuel flap. If it’s adblue there will be a 2nd filler cap under there.

I’ve seen the photo and there is no adblue filler on it so I presume it does not use it. I just hope that it’s not like the old Passat when it’s inside the boot 😁

To me the more important question is whether it is Euro5 or Euro6 certified. Euro5 diesels are already subject to an additional charge for entering the London Congestion Zone and it is certain that other cities will follow suit. Whilst it may not impact you, depending on how you use the car, it may impact it when you come to sell with no one wanting to buy Euro5 diesels.

To answer your original quetion, I think the Blue "I" mearly indicates it has a Bluemotion engine. All VW diesels from around this date were branded as Bluemotion but there was also a specific spec that was called Bluemotion that has had things doen to improve overall economy.
