The most common issue is the plenum chamber overflowing into the electronics but a new one I have come across is the parking brake control unit getting wet in the right corner of the boot and keeping the system awake. The key to look out for is the parking brake switch and dash warning light staying on for more than a few minutes and also randomly blinking. If the sound deadening under the ECU is wet and the box has corrosion stains around the plug it needs to be replaced and the leak (usually the light unit) dealt with and replacing the ECU is a complex process that so far I can only do using the VAG system ODIS as the new box is refused by the car until the cars build data held in Germany is updated.
