CarPlay kit - anyone tried one?

Has anyone tried one of these to get Carplay / Android Auto up and running?

It looks like a self install and cheaper than paying the dealer £400 for the factory activation.

What year is your car and what MMI do you have? You may be able to get the factory CarPlay activated

Yes I could do that, the dealer has confirmed it's possible as it's a 2016 model and got the right MMI version. I'm weighing that up as the £400 option versus this as the £200 option - but I'm not sure how good the kit is. If it's cheap junk that fails after 10 minutes I'll pay the extra.

I had it activated on my 64plate A7. Vagcarcoding done it for me and it was cheaper than going to Audi.

I have a 2015 C7 with tech pack, phonebox etc, is there a determining factor to get Carplay updated or not? I would have thought if it supported it, it would already have got it?

It was an optional extra. So had to pay extra when spec’ing the car. Sounds like you can get factory CarPlay activated on ur car.
