    Hi Guys

New member here, was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and maybe its a simple fix, any help is much appreciated.

    2006 Sharan 1.9 TDI

so the car drives great and does not get abused, reg services etc. has served me great so far.

Last week as i was backing out I felt something in my break peddle very briefly, just as that happened multiple electronics failed and lights on on the dash, no horn, no blower or even its lcd display, no indicators (hazards still good) fuel needle reading false empty, ABS light permanently on, parking brake light flashing,

Have tried disconnecting battery to reset... no good
Got a friend with computer to read faults... the following came up, 5 faults, 4 remained after reset/clearance
    sharan faults 1.JPGSharan faults.JPG

Any help is much appreciate, if i end up taking this to garage it could be quite expensive and not worth fixing as the car is not worth a lot, have a feeling its something simple, my mate with the computer suggested starting with ABS pump /connectors

    Hi Roverfan,

thanks for the reply, I am still no further, have been chatting with my mechanic today who thinks it may be the abs pump/ecu moduale. what makes you think ignition switch?

You had multiple electrical failures together, including the ABS.

So I would agree with Roverfan, it could well be the ignition switch, or some other wiring or fusebox problem.

Have you checked the engine bay fuse box for any sign of heat problem or water ingress.

Since the problems occurred at the same time we can assume that there is one cause. In such situations its best to go after the easiest circuit and during the course of that repair the culprit to all the other problems should be found.
Although I did suspect the ign switch, it could be something else but personally I'd ignore the abs fault codes for now.

What you need to do is have the easiest circuit looked at - I'd say the horn.

Edit:sorry forgot to answer the question! The things you mentioned are all switched on with ign on. That is the reason for suspecting the ign switch, it is the potential common component of all the faults.
